I love my area in the Summer. Most people pick on NJ when they really do not know what it has to offer.
If you know me at all, you know that my #1 passion is racing sailboats. Well, for a month now I have been on the DL, and have not been able to sail. Last night I decided to help out on a Thursday Night Cat boat race at my club. (Metedeconk River Yacht Club)... Not exactly the nail biting seat of your pants sailing that I love to do, (but then again I probably blew out the disc in my neck sailing!)..
So I went out to Patrol a race... Set marks, keep track of the boats and float around in a boat and at least be part of a race...

The above photo is the last boat to round the Leeward mark, they were WAY behind in a a dieing breeze.
I was wishing I had a camera all night, then rememberd in a pinch I could use my cell.

With the last boat around the mark, time to pick up the mark and the sun setting on the Metedeconk River and the Sanderlings and Sandpipers finished, it was time to head to the bar for an adult beverage.
I love NJ!
Robert Rauf

Good morning Robert, loved the pictures. You must really enjoy sailing. With views like that I can certainly see why. I can't swim worth a lick, but if I could, I might actually consider it. Enjoy your day. Regards, C.
Wow! Ok...Having never been there...I figured all of NJ looks like the area around Newark...LOL! I need to take a trip...
adult beverages, huh! beautiful pics for your phone :) and don't worry - you'll be back in the drivers seat soon. have a great day.
If you know me, you know that I LOVE BOATS! Any boats: speed boats, tug boats, large cruisers, even the pedaling ones you ride on a Sunday on the Park Lake. I love boats! I take a cruise once a year and I always book a balcony room. I floss my teeth on the balcony, I read on the balcony, I jog on the top deck; I explore every nook and cranny of the outdoors space of the boat. I love boats!
OK, Mirela, enough already; they know it, they know it: you love boats!!!
In spite of my affinity for boats, I've never been on a sail boat, but I think I'll take to it like a duck takes to water. It's definitely on my life to do list.
Robert, blog on this subject to your heart's content and I promise I'll participate in each and every one of them. Ah, you're so lucky!
More sailing pictures would be much appreciated. Also a blog or two about what it feels like to go so fast and have only a measure of control (you are somewhat at the mercy of the wind, no?).
Beautiful photos! My husband used to own a sailboat. We really enjoyed sailing together. He really would like to get into boating again. :)
Debi, What kind of boat did you have?
Mirela... you may open a can of worms if you get me blogging on sailing! I think I have some les tranquil shots in my computer to share... More exciting and more my speed! Keep an eye out ...
Clint, NJ is not one big refinery as everyone thinks! take a look at my blog on Sunfish Pond.. I think it was titled HIKING in NJ, you would be surprised... a few photos on that post as well..
C, you can always wear a life jacket... it is becoming fairly acceptable now... I even put one one when it gets nasty out.. (see my next sailing blog and you will see what I mean.
Kara, Yes... of course an adult beverage! but just one last night... I had to drive the kids home!
PS: Guess what? Mirela loves boats!
My husband had a 14 ft. Dolphin made by a company in Texas. It was canteen rigged, just like a Sunfish, but it carried 10 sq. ft. more sail than a Sunfish. :)
The first boat I ever owned was a sunfish! did you get a chance to see the second sailing post? the pictures are just a little more exciting!
Yes, I did. They were great! It looks like everybody was having a great time... :)
I like Mirela's comments and can wholeheartedly agree with all of them! When I am on a cruise, I am CONSTANTLY out on the balcony or on the upper deck . Also love those little pedal boats :) and was actually on a tugged boat about a month ago (which has since been turned into an awesome residence).
Thanks for stopping by Lisa, make sure you look at the other sailing post... some crazy pictures of the boats I race most of the time.
